Spare Disc for Speedarner
Slowly handcrafted spalted beech hardwood disc for use with our Speedarner mending loom.
For those who'd love to grab a spare one, just in case the first one has gone astray and cannot be found!
This beautiful disc would also be perfect to use as a darning disc, for times when you need a flat one as opposed to a disc with a domed/curved top.
Each one is made with care by us in our Cornish (U.K.) workshop using locally-sourced timber.
We're currently using spalted beech hardwood sourced from the National Trust Lanhydrock Estate (Cornwall, U.K) - this was a windfallen tree that sadly came down in a storm in March 2020. The grain pattern on every single one is different - spalting is a naturally occuring and rare grain pattern with striking black, brown or purple lines which varies from one piece of wood to the next.
This disc has a nice organic smooth surface and natural wood finish (i.e. no varnish or oil has been applied).
