Speedarner Mending Loom

Speedarner Mending Loom

£78.00मूल्य

Discover the joy of mending your own clothes with the Speedarner - a creative repair loom that makes visible mending quicker and simpler than traditional freehand darning.

With classic darning you have to concentrate on weaving over and under individual threads, but the Speedarner will do that part of the process for you. By simplifying the weaving process it makes mending more relaxing and enjoyable, especially for beginners.

About our Speedarner Mending Loom
Inspired by the iconic design of the original 1940’s Speedweve machine, this tiny loom creates neat patches over small holes, stubborn stains, or worn-out spots to revive and transform much-loved garments.

The Speedarner is the only replica darning loom that features an internal rocker mechanism, to quickly position the hooks left, right and in the upright/central position - minimum faff and maximum mending joy!

How it works
Simply place the fabric over the wooden disk, use the metal spring to secure the loom and disk in place, and push the handle on the side of the loom to move the hooks and darn with ease.

The Speedarner mending loom will help you create a 'patch' darn also known as surface darning - think of it like patching over a hole on a pair of jeans with a scrap of fabric. Your 'patch' darn will be stitched in place on all four sides and will cover the hole by floating over the surface.

The hole will still be visible on the inside of the garment, but on the outside your freshly woven darn will take any future wear and tear and help prevent the hole from growing any bigger. Surface darning is possible without a Speedarner, but it will take you more time to complete your repair and lots of practice to achieve a neat result.

What can you repair with a Speedarner

Perfect for visible repairs to everyday garments such as: denim jeans, cotton tees, cashmere jumpers and knitted socks. However, we do not recommend using this tool to repair chunky knitwear, stretchy activewear, outdoor/waterproof gear or similar clothing.

This tool can not be used to create invisible repairs or perform any other type of darning technique e.g. classic darning, honeycomb darning or duplicate stitch.

Made in Cornwall
Slowly handcrafted with care by us in our Cornish (U.K.) workshop using locally sourced materials to bring you maximum mending joy.

The Speedarner has been 9 months in the making and throughout this creative project we've taken great care to ensure we work with as many local businesses as possible (here in Cornwall & across the U.K) in order to support our local economy. We've established some great relationships with these businesses and will continue to work alongside them in the future to ensure the Speedarner is made as locally as possible.
